The first fieldwork in the Rila and Pirin mountains was successfully completed in September 2023. The main targets of the field activities were the landforms created by the Quaternary glaciations (WG1), and also the features related to periglacial processes and to the presence of mountain permafrost (WG2).
In addition to geomorphological mapping of glacial and periglacial landforms, samples were collected for age determination using in situ produced cosmogenic 10Be isotopes.
